Mies Van der Rohe first showed his cantilever chair in 1927 at the Weißenhofsiedlung, Germany.
Inspired by the cantilever chairs of Mart Stam and Marcel Breuer, Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe replaced the right angles on the front legs with a graceful curve which had the advantage of increasing elasticity while preventing material fatigue.
